Dr. Carol Beals founded Beals Institute, now known as Great Lakes Center of Rheumatology West. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in 1976. An internship in Internal Medicine was completed from 1976 through 1979 at Michigan State University Graduate Medicine Education. She completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at the University Of Michigan Medical School in 1981. She has been practicing in the field of Rheumatology since 1981. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She is on the Clinical Faculty in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Beals is a well-known speaker throughout the state and has traveled to Russia, China, and other foreign countries extensively speaking on many topics regarding arthritis, osteoporosis, and other auto-immune diseases. Dr. Beals has two sons, five stepchildren, and at the present 19 grandchildren. She resides on a farm in Grand Ledge.
Dr. June was born in Pontiac Michigan, and has lived throughout the state including Flint, Bay City, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Oak Park, with a brief stint in Chicago, Lakeland Florida and Rome New York. Dr. June knew he was to be in medicine since the age of five, and single mindedly made that dream happen by attending MSU for undergrad, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine afterwards. It wasn't until his second year of medical school that he decided on Rheumatology, (or it decided on him.) Dr. June trained at Henry Ford Hospital for his 3rd, and 4th years of medical school, and went on to do an internal medicine residency at Metro Hospital in Grand Rapids area. Aside from medicine, he enjoys Triathlon training, biking, swimming, running, etc.
Dr. Al-Shwaf offers many years of knowledge and experience. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and has been practicing for over 18 years. Dr. Al-Shwaf has practiced in a number of countries and has been successful with helping people on a global scale. His past experience includes being a Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the International Medical Center. A fun fact about him is he is fluent in both English and Arabic. In his free time Dr. Al-Shwaf enjoys spending time with his family along with practicing his religion. He is a membership of the American College of Rheumatology and the Arthritis Foundation.
Timothy Palmer is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who joined our office in 2016. He received his Physician Assistant degree in 2012 from Wayne State University. His previous clinical experience includes 4 years of Gastroenterology at McLaren GI in Lansing, MI. He completed his undergraduate degree from Spring Arbor University in 1999. He worked in the private sector for several years before pursuing a career in the medical field. He enjoys various outdoor activities such as biking, traveling up north, and spending as much time as possible with his wife and two young boys. He also spends a great deal of time with his local church, playing in a worship band, and participating in community events in the Lansing area.
Kimberly Frazier is a board certified nurse practitioner in adult-gerontology. She has been with our office since September 2018. She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Spring Arbor University. Kim's previous nurse practitioner experience includes endocrinology, internal medicine, pain management, and home health assessments. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she spent 10 years working in an ambulatory surgery center, as well as a hospital staff nurse, pediatric clinic nurse, and nursing home staff nurse. Kim enjoys reading, gardening, and working on house projects with her husband. They have three grown children, two dogs, and two cats.
Kobi Moseley is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who joined our office in 2018. She left for a brief period in 2020 to try her hand in Urgent Care. She has returned to us October 2020. She received her Physician Assistant degree in 2018 from Lincoln Memorial University. She completed her undergraduate degree from University of Tennessee in 2015. Kobi and her husband Dylan enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, camping, running and spending time with their dog, Bonnie.
Allison Trevino is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who joined our office in 2020. She received her Physician Assistant degree in 2020 from Western Michigan University. She completed her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University in Biomedical Science. Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, she spent 6 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and obtained her Emergency Medical Technician license. Allison enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking and hiking. She also enjoys board games and spending quality time with her husband, son and two cats.
